Are you reaching customers through their most influential electronic device?

The mobile phone has become the single most influential device a person has right now.  It has therefore become essential for marketers to reach people through their mobile phone.

A key area of opportunity is for place-based media where the media will be able to trigger the decision-making at the moment of maximum influence.  This will be achieved through the use of varying forms of mobile content delivery technologies and a call-to-action message embedded within the media.

It is clearly time to start investing in comprehensive mobile marketing strategies that includes the convergence of mobile and place based media.

In addition to web optimized browsing, mobile applications and QR codes, huge opportunities exist for marketers to utilize proximity-based marketing via Bluetooth or internal wi-fi networks with content being pushed to mobile devices. Such programs have great opt-in rates and high conversion ratios.

iPad and iPhone Owners Download Over 60 Apps

According to data from a recent study by Asymco, iPad and iPhone owners download an average of over 60 mobile applications per device.

Amazingly, they are reporting that iOS application downloads are outpacing music downloads in terms of growth. The amazing growth of iPhone application and iPad application downloads is exciting news and a huge opportunity for savvy business people.

With users downloading custom built applications at such a high rate that there are massive opportunities to utilize this medium in ways people are thinking of everyday. Applications, regardless of if they are for iPhone or iPad or even applications for Android or BlackBerry applications are rapidly changing the way we communicate and do business.

Have you though of how you can use applications to enhance your customer’s experience? Provide them with useful data? Create a loyalty program? Give them important information to assist them in using your products better? The possibilities are endless and those that don’t push themselves into this realm may soon find themselves left behind.

Android Honeycomb Tablet OS

At this year’s consumer electronics show, Google has given us their view of the future for tablets with a sneak peek at Honeycomb – their tablet only operating system that is on the way. Honeycomb looks different than the interface you are used to but that is because Google is optimizing it for tablet use.

Widget use is clearly a focus of Google’s tablet plans and Honeycomb will be integrated with Google Maps 5 with 3D interactions and offline reliability, Google eBooks and Google Talk. Video chat will be integrated so users won’t have to go to third party vendors.

Tabbed browsing is an exciting feature that will allow tablet users to view the Internet in the same way that they do when on their laptops or desktop computers.  This is certainly a big plus.

Android tablets look to be ready to make a big move in the same way that Android phones have done in the smartphone market. Custom built Android applications are very likely to start making some big noise in the marketplace very soon.
