{"id":573,"date":"2013-07-04T07:16:51","date_gmt":"2013-07-04T14:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.vanitypoint.com\/?p=573"},"modified":"2014-05-07T23:55:10","modified_gmt":"2014-05-08T06:55:10","slug":"smartphone-market-shows-explosive-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vanitymobileapps.com\/blog\/mobile-application-development\/smartphone-market-shows-explosive-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"Smartphone Market Shows Explosive Growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"f43b63d3-5286-4a0d-b595-878ac741750f\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"7b87fdf0-2118-4746-aeb4-788e8563d69b\">comScore<\/span><\/span> recently released a new report highlighting several key trends in the U.S. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"d68dfc9f-f89e-4f66-928c-bf7476090a9d\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"979b2014-71d6-4cbf-8c96-9d2bfbbce227\">smartphone industry<\/span><\/span> that companies considering <a title=\"Developing Mobile Applications\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vanitypoint.com\/mobile-development.html\" target=\"_blank\">developing mobile applications<\/a> should consider.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Apple is ranked as the top <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"ad3f4acd-fcc0-4bac-b4ca-f64867f832a0\">smartphone<\/span> manufacturer with 39% of the\u00a0 market share.\u00a0 Samsung follows in second place with a 23% of the market share, HTC is in third with 8.7%, Motorola follows with 7.8% and LG comes in with 6.7%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Android continues <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"4e311826-02ef-4a31-a5aa-0995b9245f9b\">to led<\/span> as the top <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"f9c2e18d-2de7-42d4-bfad-793774ee36a6\">smartphone<\/span> platform with 52% of the market share. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"684dda37-0da8-4707-adfb-4372e923da06\">Clearly neither<\/span> of these platforms can be ignored when it comes to mobile application development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The most interesting point from the new <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"5c1282bd-9ced-440b-a97b-d6a814fbaac5\">comScore<\/span> report is the growth of the U.S. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"8aaad126-9c36-4064-ad03-625704e0daae\">smartphone<\/span> market itself. 141 million people in the U.S. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"31cae530-573d-412b-9c49-a8fb3ab2be62\">alone<\/span> now own <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"1486b604-79e3-4ac7-bc51-c06222041b97\">smartphones<\/span> (59% of the market, as of the end of May 2013).
